ITANAGAR, Jul 29: A three-day workshop aimed at strengthening health infrastructure planning and management in Arunachal Pradesh was inaugurated here on Tuesday by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Water Supply department.
Titled “Planning, Design & Management of Health Infrastructure Projects in Arunachal Pradesh,” the workshop is being held at the DK Convention Hall and has brought together engineers from the PHE department’s Planning, Design, and Sanitation wings, as well as officials and directors from the health department.
The inaugural session featured a series of expert presentations by professionals from the medical, architectural, and research sectors, focusing on strategies to bridge infrastructural gaps in public healthcare delivery.
Dr Bamin Tada, MBBD and DPH, emphasised the need to address systemic and infrastructural deficiencies in government hospitals, calling for a focused approach to strengthen the healthcare core.
Dr Jeet Patwari, an MBBS graduate with a master’s in hospital management, gave a presentation on healthcare design standards, with an emphasis on patient safety, efficiency, and functionality.
Health and research scientist Dr Nabam Peter spoke on the importance of integrating Building Management Systems (BMS) and IT infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency in hospital settings.
Principal architect Nakul Nanda Maisom delivered a session on “Transforming Hospital Design into Care Delivery,” highlighting the role of architecture in creating patient-centric and outcome-oriented healthcare spaces.
The day concluded with a technical presentation by Dr Patwari on design principles for clinical areas, covering emergency units, intensive care units (ICUs), and operation theatres (OTs).
The workshop will continue over the next two days with technical sessions, discussions on best practices, and the formulation of a roadmap to improve health infrastructure across the state.
