Itanagar, Oct 6: The Arunachal Pradesh Compassionate Ground Committee on Monday voiced strong dissatisfaction over the state government’s prolonged inaction in processing appointments under the Compassionate Ground Scheme, alleging serious procedural violations and policy misuse.
Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club, the committee accused the concerned department of deliberately stalling the appointment process for over six years, leaving numerous eligible candidates waiting indefinitely. They further alleged that new conditions and criteria — not part of the original compassionate appointment guidelines — have been arbitrarily imposed, violating the very intent of the scheme.
The committee also expressed concern over the introduction of APSSB provisions in 2024, claiming these have been unfairly applied to compassionate cases, which were meant to provide immediate relief to families of deceased government employees.
Calling the situation “deeply unjust,” the committee urged the state government to expedite the appointment process for all pending cases and to handle their grievances with urgency and compassion.
They reiterated that the scheme’s core objective — to support bereaved families by providing timely employment — is being undermined, and called for immediate corrective action to restore faith in the system.
