ITANAGAR, May 14: Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society today expressed its reservation over the appointment of new members in the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women defying laid down norms.

Addressing the media at Press Club, President APWWS Bengia Dipti Tadar claimed that the authority has appointed three members in the Commission defying all laid down norms.

‘RTI documents reveal that three members who were appointed as Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Member of the Commission by the concern authority never applied for the said posts, moreover their names were also not mentioned in the empanelled list recommended by the outgoing 4th body of the APSCW which is a mandatory process,’ stated Tadar.

She further added that, one out of the three members is Non-APST, where as it has been clearly mentioned in the Commission’s Act that all members should be APST only.

‘So we urge the concern authority to rectify the illegal and arbitrary appointments made by the 5th body of APSCW,’ she said.

When asked about probability of political adjustment behind the appointments, she categorically asserted that APWWS has no issue about political affiliation of any members but the appointments should not be made defying the laid down norms of the Commission.

‘We met Chief Minister Pema  Khandu and submitted the representation seeking his intervention on the issue. Moreover responding to our representation, he has assured to look into the matter within one week,’ said General Secretary APWWS Kani Nada Maling stating that APWWS may resort to protest if authority fails to respond to their demands.
