Arunachal Pradesh celebrates womanhood with city-wide marathon
Itanagar, Mar 10: During the Zero Hour of the Assembly session, MLA Kumar Waii raised the issue regarding the procedure for compassionate appointments in the state.
Responding to the matter, Home Minister Mama Natung informed the House that in 2019, around 325 individuals were provided jobs on compassionate grounds. He stated that as per the 2001 order, recruitment under compassionate grounds earlier did not require tests such as PET, PST, or written examinations, and appointments were made directly through a committee.
However, the Minister added that a circular issued by the Central Government in August 2022 made it mandatory for states to conduct the required tests. Accordingly, in the recent process, 442 applicants applied, out of which 35 candidates were selected in line with the available vacancies.
The Minister further highlighted that significant reforms have taken place under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, including improvements in recruitment processes through APSSB has been revolutionary.
He assured the House that all suggestions put forward by MLA Kumar Waii would be taken into consideration. The Minister also noted that while 5% reservation provisions exist in other departments in serial wise manner but recruitment in the Police department is conducted collectively for all vacancies at once, following the prescribed procedures.
