RONO HILLS, Mar 12: The 71st Conference and Symposium of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Prayag, which was inaugurated by Governor Brig. Dr. B. D. Mishra, on March 10, concluded here today at the RGU campus.
At the valedictory function Vice-Chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) Prof. Saket Kushwaha who attended as Chief Guest congratulated the participants of the mega event and the award recipients in various categories. Prof. Kushwaha said, “Arunachalee Hindi has its own character with a very beautiful way of expression” and suggested the Sammelan to document and keep the record of year-wise award recipients. He also advised the organization for the documentation of the papers and articles presented during the symposium and called for maintaining a vibrant website so that the activities of the Sammelan can be easily explored and accessed by scholars.

He suggested preparing a working team consisting of members from all over the country to work for the growth and development of the organization. “Translation work must be carried out to popularize the local writings and an MOU can also be signed with the RGU for the exchange of research works and for taking up many research projects”, he said.

During the Sammelan, the Sahityavaschaspati-Samman was awarded to Sitaram Tiwari, Dr. Bhupendra Rai Choudhary and Dr. Raman Sandilya and the Sahitya Sammelan-Samman awards were given  to Prof. Harish Kumar Sharma, Prof. Oken Lego, Dr. Madhusudan Sharma, Jumsi Siram, Dr. Joram Ania Tana, Dr. Joram Yalam Nabam, Dr. Jamuna Bini Tadar, Tumbom Riba Lily, Dr. Taro Sindik, Boke Bagra and Dr. Akhilesh Shankhdhar for their contributions to the development of Hindi.
Earlier on the second day of the of the conference, in addition to the academic sessions, there was a Special Session, which was graced by Hon’ble Governor West Bengal Pt. Keshrinath Tripathi as Chief Guest. In his address at the session, he said that Hindi has the capability of uniting the entire country, but to achieve the goal we must bring the language into practice. “At the same time we should take care that the decorum and dignity of the particular language is preserved and respected”, he said. Pt. Tripathi also recited his poems during the ‘Kavi Sammelan’.
