Tezu, Mar 31: MLA of Tezu-Sunpura, Dr. Mohesh Chai, along with SDO Tezu, Sotailum Bellai, inspected the ongoing construction of a major bridge over the Paya river in Lohit district. The inspection focused on assessing the pace and quality of work being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase III.
During the visit, the MLA emphasized that there should be no compromise on quality and directed the concerned department and executing agency to ensure that all technical specifications and standards are strictly adhered to. He further stressed that the project must be completed in a time-bound manner, preferably by the end of the current year, considering its importance for the region.
The project involves the construction of a 193.08-meter span RCC composite bridge with BUG girder on the road from Paya to Bhekuliang. Notably, this is one of the longest bridges being constructed under the PMGSY programme in Arunachal Pradesh. A similar bridge of the same span has already been successfully completed in Lohit district under Wakro circle over the Khampai river.
Officials informed that the completion of this bridge, along with the connecting road, will significantly improve connectivity and bring long-awaited relief to the residents of Bhekuliang and nearby areas. Once completed, it will ensure all-weather connectivity, linking these previously deprived villages with Tezu and facilitating better access to essential services, markets, and administrative centers.
The MLA reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring inclusive development across remote areas of the district.
