Sangram, Feb 25: In a significant initiative marking the  40th Statehood Day celebration, a one-day workshop programme for Gaon Burahs was conducted at Sangram.
The workshop was led by Philip Tayeng, SDO Sangram, in the presence of Agam Komut, CO Nyobia, and Shanti Paleng OC PS Sangram. The programme aimed at strengthening grassroots governance and enhancing coordination between traditional village institutions and the administration.
During the technical sessions, important topics such as the Role of Gaon Burahs in village administration, provisions of the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945 (AFR 1945), and the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Courts Act 2021, and its ammendments were deliberated in detail. The sessions focused on clarifying the legal authority, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms between Gaon Burahs, Police, and the Civil Administration.
A major highlight of the event was the collective Wildlife Protection Pledge, where all Gaon Burahs committed themselves to refraining from hunting and consumption of wild animals and to spreading awareness on biodiversity conservation in their respective villages.
The initiative reflects a progressive step towards balancing traditional leadership with modern conservation responsibilities. The programme concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the attendees.
