ITANAGAR, Jun 20: In its continuous effort to find remedial measures to improve the deteriorating education system in Galo inhabited districts, the Galo Students' Union (GSU) on Friday reached newly created Leparada District and held a Joint Consultative Co-ordination Meeting with all the BEOs, Principals and Headmasters at Panchayat Hall, Basar.
During the meeting, GSU president Mepe Ete, while expressing serious concern over the poor performance of students in recently declared CBSE results, fervently urged upon the Principals and Headmasters to identify the causes of poor results. He said that the Union would submit its report to the state government for corrective measures and other issues confronting the schools.
Ete also requested the DDSE concerned to properly check teachers’ absenteeism and irregular and insincere teachers be dealt with strict action. Further, he also appealed the elected legislators not to encourage political transfer and posting in the education department which is not in the interest of the students community. Calling for blanket ban on mid-term transfer and posting of teachers from all Galo inhibited areas, the Union president stated that GSU will not tolerate it.
Claiming that due to lack of awareness many innocent students are vulnerable to become victims of sexual offences, the Union president appealed the school authorities to create awareness on POCSO Act 2012.
Union also requested DDSE to ensure that the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Product (COTPA) Act 2003 is properly implemented in all the schools, to check the consumption of tobacco products among the students.
Highlighting on the importance of cordial relation between students and teachers, Resource Person Minge Ori, Asstt Professor Himalayan University, emphasized that unless there is good relationship between teachers and students, teaching-learning process will not be possible. He suggested the parents to guide their wards to give utmost respect to their teachers. Consultative Meeting was attended by Principals of GHSS Basar, GHSS Dari, GHSS Tirbin, and Headmasters of GSS Bam, GSS Basar, SMDCs and BEOs from respective circles under Leparada District. All the Principals and Headmaster shared their views and suggestions to improve the education system of Galo inhabited districts.
Earlier, GSU team called on local MLA Gokar Basar and discussed at length about the present conditions of education system. Union members requested the MLA to give special care to the education sector. MLA Basar assured to extend every possible help in GSUs endeavor in making the area educationally developed. Newsdesk
