ITANAGAR, Apr 26:  Following the declaration by the Election Commission of India (ECI) that the previous polls held on April 19, 2024, at certain polling stations were void under Sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the fresh polls were conducted which were held from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM on April 24 last.
In its press statement, the Chief Electoral Officer Arunachal Pradesh stated robust security arrangements for the fresh polls conducted in various polling stations across Arunachal Pradesh. Under the direct supervision of  Anand Mohan, IPS, DGP, and with the coordination of State Police Nodal Officer  Chukhu Apa, IPS, stationed at Daporijo, Upper Subansiri District, security cover was effectively managed.
For the 40-Sario Polling Station in the 8-Bameng Assembly Constituency, three Magistrates, three Superintendents of Police, and 250 security personnel were deployed. Similarly, for the 13-Langte Loth Polling Station in the 19-Nyapin Assembly Constituency, two Deputy Commissioners, three Superintendents of Police, and six companies of security forces were stationed.
Moreover, to ensure security across various polling stations, including those in the 22-Nacho Assembly Constituency and the 32-Rumgong Assembly Constituency, additional armed security personnel were deployed.
Senior Nodal Officers, comprising Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from various districts, were also deployed to oversee the fresh poll process and prevent any untoward incidents.
All polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and election materials were safely transported to the receiving centers under tight security. Scrutiny of Form-17A and other related documents was completed in the presence of relevant officials, after which the strong rooms of the four assembly constituencies were sealed, stated a release.
Meanwhile, in its press communique, the Chief Electoral Officer commended the polling teams and security personnel for their dedication in ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful fresh poll, despite challenges such as heavy rainfall and foot marches. The voter turnout percentage in the eight mentioned polling stations stood at 79.80%, contributing to an overall voter turnout of 77.7% for parliamentary constituencies and 82.95% for assembly constituencies in the state.
