Itanagar, Aug 12: Arunachal Pradesh, Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd.), inaugurated the Tiranga Mahotsav in the Golden Jubilee State Banquet Hall, here on Tuesday. As part of the Mahotsav, the Governor, along with the Chief Minister Pema Khandu handed over 'Tiranga' to the youth from various tribes from different parts of the State.
The Governor, launching the Tiranga Mahotsav, expressed deep pride in celebrating the festival of our flag in the Land of the Rising Sun, a State whose people have always stood as steadfast guardians of India’s unity, sovereignty, and dignity. He said that for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, patriotism is not confined to special occasions; it is a way of life, rooted in tradition and passed down through generations.
The Governor called on every Arunachali to let the Tiranga fly high and carry the message that we are Indians first, bound by love for our motherland and committed to building a stronger, united, and peaceful Bharat.
Recalling the valour of 1962, the Governor praised the State’s brave sons and daughters who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Armed Forces, offering courage, loyalty, and even their lives for the nation, a spirit that continues to inspire today. This commitment, he noted, is also reflected in transformative initiatives like the Vibrant Village Programme and Seva Aapke Dwar, which bring opportunities, resources, and hope to the remotest corners, strengthening the fabric of national unity.
The Governor highlighted that India’s greatest strength lies in its diversity, beautifully embodied in the Tiranga. He lauded the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign for bringing this symbol of unity into every home, turning flag-hoisting into a personal pledge of loyalty to the nation. He urged that the true honour of the Tiranga lies in hoisting it high and in living by its ideals, strengthening unity, bridging differences, and marching forward together as one people, one nation, one destiny.
Earlier, the Governor, along with the Chief Minister, also inaugurated the Tiranga Mela, where large numbers of Self-Help groups from different parts of the State participated. As an encouragement, the Governor procured a number of items from the SHGs.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister called upon the people to enthusiastically participate in the Tiranga Mahotsav. He said that the festival is celebrated to honour the freedom fighters and inspire the new generation.
