Namsang, Jul 9:  Former MLA from Tirap district, Kapchen Rajkumar has passed away. He was 65.
Born on April 15, 1960, in Namsang village to Late Wangmai Rajkumar, former Acting Chief of Namsang, he was elected and served as the Member of Legislative Assembly from the erstwhile Khonsa North Assembly Constituency from 1985–1990.
He pursued his early education at Ramakrishna Mission School, Narottamnagar, Deomali, and later studied at Government Higher Secondary School, Khonsa. He also completed a Commercial Pilot Training Course at Safdarjung Airport, New Delhi.
A veteran politician,  Kapchen Rajkumar was widely respected in the region. According to family sources, his death is suspected to have been caused by a wild elephant attack early this morning between the Namsang and Deomali area.
Minister for Environment & Forests, Wangki Lowang, along with Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran and ADC Deomali Badonlum Tawsik, paid homage to the mortal remains and expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family.
Late Rajkumar is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
His last rites will be performed on Thursday at his native village, Namsang. 
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd) and ​Chief Minister Pema Khandu have expressed deep shock and grief at the tragic demise of Kapchen Rajkumar, former MLA from Tirap. 
Deeply saddened, the Governor said that the passing away of Late Rajkumar is a profound loss for the entire community, who so passionately served as a young member of the State Legislative Assembly.
In his message, the Governor said that Late Rajkumar was a dedicated social activist whose unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Tirap and his compassion for the people will always be remembered with respect and gratitude. 
In this moment of grief, I join my fellow Arunachalis in praying to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to the bereaved family. I also pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul, the Governor said in his message.
​In a message here this evening, Khandu said, “Late Kapchen Rajkumar’s commitment to the welfare of the people and his relentless pursuit of progress for Tirap will leave a lasting legacy. It is a profound loss not only for his family and friends but for all those whose lives he touched through his work. His dedication to serving the community and his contributions to our society will always be remembered.”
​He prayed for strength to the bereaved family members and relatives and eternal peace of the departed soul.
