Itanagar, Sep 10: For small sellers, farmers, and artisans across the Northeast, Flipkart’s latest expansion is more than just a logistics move — it is a promise of opportunity. With over 6 lakh sq. ft. of warehousing space in Guwahati and Agartala, and nine new Micro Fulfillment Centers (MFCs) live in Guwahati under Flipkart Minutes, the company is enabling faster deliveries, especially ahead of the festive season when consumer demand peaks.
The initiative has already created over 5,000 jobs with a focus on women, PwDs, and youth, while more than one lakh sellers from Assam are now active on the Flipkart marketplace, doubling their listings in just a year. Farmers too are finding new markets under Samarth Krishi, with pineapples from Garo Hills, strawberries from Khasi Hills, lemons from Assam, and baby kiwi from Bomdila now reaching consumers across India.
Traders see wider access for local products, from handicrafts to fresh produce, while young entrepreneurs are increasingly looking at e-commerce as a viable business channel. For shoppers, the expansion means faster access to festive essentials and daily needs.
With over 2,000 distributors and retailers contributing nearly 30% of Flipkart’s Reset for Business operations, the Northeast is quickly cementing its role in India’s circular economy.
