Bordumsa, Jun 1: A flash flood triggered by incessant rainfall has severely damaged a portion of National Highway-215 at Magantong Bridge, snapping the vital road connectivity between Bordumsa and Kharsang in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to an official Traffic Advisory issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Bordumsa, the water level of the Buri-Dehing River has crossed the danger mark, causing massive erosion on its upstream right bank, measuring approximately 80 meters wide and 50 meters in length.
The advisory further states that around 55 meters of the approach road to the Magantong Bridge on the Trans Arunachal Highway (NH-215) has been completely washed away. The bridge has been detached from its abutment, rendering it unsafe for vehicular movement.
The Executive Engineer of the Highway Division, Jairampur, has informed that full restoration of the damaged bridge may take over three months due to the scale of destruction.
Additionally, the alternative route via Bordumsa–Penga–Ketetong is also reported to be impassable, as the Ketetong area is currently inundated.
In light of the situation, commuters traveling from Bordumsa to Kharsang, Miao, Jairampur, and Changlang are advised to take the Bordumsa–Digboi Road until further notice.
