Sona stresses on holistic education to truly nurture future generations
Naharlagun, Jul 25: In a heartening initiative aimed at improving learning conditions, the Office of the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Naharlagun, has donated tables and chairs for the pre-primary and primary students of Government Primary School, Kolma Village. The effort was spearheaded by EAC Naharlagun, Khoda Bath, and Circle Officer Nani Mamung.
During a recent inspection visit to the school, it was found that the children were attending classes in challenging conditions—seated on mats, with only a few having access to tables and no proper chairs. The school, nestled in the midst of a seasonal river, becomes especially difficult to access during the monsoon, yet students continue to show up with unwavering determination to learn.
Recognising this spirit and the need for better infrastructure, the Circle Officer, Naharlagun, immediately took the initiative to provide basic classroom furniture. The donation aims to enhance the learning environment for the young students, who until now, have made do with bare essentials.
The visit also included an interactive session with the children, where officials encouraged them to continue studying hard despite the odds.
Teachers and parents expressed gratitude for the gesture, hoping it marks the beginning of more sustained support for remote schools like theirs. The Office of the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Naharlagun reaffirmed its commitment to improving education access and infrastructure in the region, especially for children in vulnerable and geographically challenging areas.
