Bomdila, Sep 4: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held a coordination meeting with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and line departments at the DC’s Conference Hall, Bomdila.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pawan Kr. Singh, Joint Advisor, NDMA, highlighted the purpose of their visit and conveyed the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs to assess the ground realities of disaster preparedness at the grassroots level.
He further informed that all valuable inputs from the meeting would be shared with the State Government to ensure that disasters are tackled effectively. While interacting with the line departments, he urged them to prepare their respective plans and submit their requirements to the State Disaster Management Authority so that necessary support can be provided.
Dr. Wazeem Iqbal, Consultant (DM), NDMA, presented the policies, plans, and guidelines of NDMA through a PowerPoint presentation.
Mindu Yangzom, DDMO, presented the district profile, disaster management plans, and policies, and also explained how disasters had been managed in the past through a PPT presentation.
In-charge DC Bomdila, Rinchin Leta, in his concluding remarks, lauded the military and paramilitary forces for their active cooperation and relentless service during disasters in the region. He also explained the causes of forest fires in the district and urged the participating line departments to work on the advice and suggestions shared by NDMA.
Representatives of SDMA, BRO, SSB, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, PWD, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, and other departments also shared their experiences and suggestions during the meeting.
Meanwhile, basic disaster management training was conducted at Singchung by the DDMA in collaboration with the District Police, NDRF, and SDRF. Around 30 volunteers were trained during the programme (DIPRO)
