Sona stresses on holistic education to truly nurture future generations
PASIGHAT, Jul 30: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani has stressed on mainstreaming of recovering youth through skill development initiatives, career counselling and creating an enabling support system through positive interventions in reintegrating and facilitating a sense of positive direction. Commending the proactive efforts made by the East Siang District Police alongwith stakeholder departments, NGOs and Anti- Drug Warriors in the anti drug initiatives , she urged to sustain the efforts for a drug free society. The DC said this while addressing the 11th monthly District NCORD meeting organised by the East Siang Police today. She reviewed the action taken report on key issues from the members of the NCORD on adherence to SOPs by Rehab Centres, implementation of prohibition of alcohol in public areas by the District Administration alongwith mandatory prohibitory signage, drug awareness campaigns, career counselling in schools and academic institutions, regular patrolling vulnerable zones. The DC asked department of Industries, skill development and other concerned department to conduct awareness programmes and handhold in availing various self employment and entrepreneurship flagship schemes and various skill development courses and sought time bound action taken report.
SP East Siang Pankaj Lamba, informed that till July, more than twelve thousand students in schools across Pasighat and schools at sub divisional levels have been covered as part of the awareness campaign taken up by the East Siang Police. This is part of the Voice Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Clubs under the Operation Dwan 2.0 initiated by the Arunachal Pradesh Police District Police in coordination with T & Excise Department. Efforts to curb illegal and unlicensed liquor sales was also highlighted.
Dy. SP Ayub Boko also apprised on enforcement measures by the Anti Drug Squad (ADS).
Various practical issues faced in rehabilitation efforts by Drug De-Addiction Centres was also apprised by the Incharges of the Rehab Centres. DIPRO
