Anini, Aug 17: Angrim village, nestled in the heart of the Dambuen circle, was hit by cloudburst around midnight on Saturday. Fortunately, the local community has breathed a sigh of relief as there were no reported casualties among people or animals. However, the storm left a trail of devastation in its wake, wreaking havoc on public infrastructure. Roads were inundated with debris, and the community hall suffered significant structural damage. Additionally, standing crops were destroyed, and water supply has been interrupted.
In response to the crisis, District Commissioner Bekir Nyorak swiftly visited Angrim to assess the situation firsthand. Accompanied by a dedicated team of officials, he evaluated the damage and provided immediate relief assistance to the village leaders, Goan Bura Lechey Molo and Ateko Molo. Recognizing the urgent need for action, the DC urged the Border Roads Organization (BRO) to expedite the clearance of blockaded roads in the Angrim valley, with hopes of restoring access by this evening.
Tourists stranded in Dambuen are in constant touch with the District Administration, ensuring their safety and coordination during this challenging time. The DC has also directed various departments to provide detailed report on the losses incurred and to prioritize the restoration of essential services, including water supply and electricity.
In this time of crisis, community resilience shines through, with the DC supported by a robust team, including ZPC, PD, DDMO, EE RWD, DMO, DHO, CO Dambuen, OC GREF, ADO, and VO, all working together to restore normalcy in Angrim valley.
