Itanagar, Aug 14: The Directorate of Public Relations (DIPR), Soochna Bhawan observed the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day today. Secretary Art & Culture, Mamta Riba, Secretary IPR Nyali Ete, Director IPR Gijum Tali along with other officers and officials were present.
Secretary IPR and Secretary Art and culture highlight the importance of the day. The programme also held power point presentation of the horrific day.
IPR department came together to remember the tragic chapter in our nation's history. This day serves as a reminder to strengthen the bonds of unity and harmony.
Tezu: Lohit district marked the day with a solemn programme in Tezu, recalling the human cost of the 1947 Partition and reaffirming the district’s commitment to harmony and peace.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner, Lohit, said the day is a reminder of how political ruptures can devastate ordinary lives. Delving into the historical context, he urged students and youth to understand “not just the dates and events, but the lived experiences—so we never repeat them.” He added that remembrance must translate into everyday empathy, lawful conduct, and respect for diversity.
Gamso Bellai, District President, BJP, called for unity and oneness, noting that communal concord and national integrity are the “most powerful tributes” to those who suffered during Partition.
Delivering the keynote address, Nyatum Doke underscored that the observance highlights the centrality of peace in public life, urging citizens to resolve differences through dialogue and constitutional means. “The lesson of Partition is simple and profound—peace is precious, and it is everyone’s responsibility,” he said. The program was attended by Angenlu Minin Chaitom, ZPM Sunpura, HoDs, Gaon Buras, public and officials.
Yingkiong: Joining the rest of the country, the District Administration Upper Siang observed the day today.
Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of officers, staff, and members of the general public. In his brief address, the DC highlighted the significance of the day, stating that our hearts go out to those who endured the pain of partition, and today we pay our tribute to commemorate their sacrifices and sufferings.
The exhibition featured rare photographs from the 1947 Partition, depicting the struggles, displacement, and resilience of millions affected during that historic period. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
Aalo: In solemn remembrance of the victims of 1947 partition of India, the West Siang District Administration organized the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day at Deputy Commissioner conference hall Aalo. The event was organized to honour the memory of those who lost their lives during the partition. Powerpoint presentation was showcased the worse experiences of million of people who were displaced.
The day was attended by Deputy Commissioner West Siang, Mamu Hage among others.
Namsai: Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was observed here today in the presence of MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, In-charge DC Nang Koliani Namchoom, Administrative officers, HoDs, Ex-servicemen and officials of various departments.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA recalled the immense human suffering caused by the partition of India in 1947 which witnessed the loss of countless lives, large-scale riots, unrest, and the forced mass migration of millions. He stressed that the day serves as a reminder of the need to preserve unity, peace, and harmony in the nation.
During the programme, a video on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was screened and a memory lane of the partition exhibition showcased historical photographs.
On the occasion, Veterans Seva Kendra, the office of the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, Arunachal Pradesh, Namsai Unit was inaugurated at the District Secretariat.
