ROING, Aug 18: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has expressed grave concern over the safety and security of women in the state. This comes at the heels of the recent report of rape and physical assault of a woman in Roing. Strongly condemning the heinous crime, the Society warned that such incidents reflect a deeply disturbing trend threatening the well-being of women and children.
In response to the incident, members of the Enjalumenda Women’s Empowerment Forum, an affiliated body of the APWWS, met Superintendent of Police (SP) Roing to express their concern and to seek an update on the ongoing investigation. The delegation also appreciated the swift action of the Roing Police in arresting the alleged accused, Tallom Tayeng.
The society also urged the police to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, and to ensure that a proper chargesheet is filed at the earliest so that justice is not delayed. The delegation further raised concern about the recent spurt of rape cases involving minors and submitted a representation to the SP, pressing for urgent attention and effective measures to curb such crimes.
Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of women and children, APWWS stressed the need for stricter enforcement of law, timely justice, and collective efforts from all sections of society to create a safer environment for women.
