ITANAGAR, Feb 18: The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) on Tuesday accused the state government of failing to fulfil key assurances made on 18 February 2023 in the aftermath of the APPSC scam, alleging that promises of reform and accountability remain largely unimplemented even three years later.
AFTF Chairman Tadak Nalo claimed that commitments such as enacting a Whistle Blower Act, rolling back cases against aspirants, ensuring proper functioning of a fast-track court, initiating trial proceedings, taking decisive action against alleged kingpins Taket Jerang, completing departmental inquiries, and providing compensation to injured students have not been effectively carried out.
Addressing a press conference in Itanagar, Nalo alleged that despite repeated assurances, the trial process has yet to properly begin and accountability mechanisms have not been completed. He said the delay tactics by state government has deepened frustration among aspirants and eroded public trust in the system.
The AFTF also raised strong voice to scrap the 80:20 recruitment ratio and make ST/PRC mandatory in examinations conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB). Nalo stated that any decision affecting recruitment policies must safeguard the constitutional and customary rights of indigenous tribal communities.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Nalo claimed the government has not stood by its commitments made in 2023 and asserted that the movement would continue until the APPSC issue is resolved transparently and justice is delivered.
He further expressed resentment towards the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU), alleging that the apex student body has failed to adequately support aspirants during critical state issues.
