Eastern Sentinel Arunachal News

It's a fundamental aspect in any plan or policy framed and intended with the target of delivering benefits to the people, or a foundational principle altogether that finishing assignments within the dates set at their inception is a must. This holds good for any country and government and it has been observed that its breach casts a rippling effect, not only affecting a particular project in question severely, but also hampering the others in indirect ways. Arunachal Pradesh, which has carried the blame for decades continues to do so till today despite having all the ingredients necessary for propelling it to a more developed stage. If there is an attempt to arrive at the ratio pertaining to timely completion of tangible projects, it will invariably be too poor to share widely. But it seems the realization has dawned in as there is now a flurry of activities that are centered around the urge of one singular aim- no overlapping of deadlines. The urge must see an uninterrupted continuance over at least a decade from now if the systemic phenomenon of living with the convenience of allowing and accepting delays is to be erased.

The Annual State Budget has incorporated various proposals with an emphasis on creating infrastructure that would accelerate the process of overall development. However, the old question of the chances of their timely completion will invariably arise, just as it has been in the case of the current ones, budget allocations and commencement of which dates several years back. The need for the airport will need no reiteration and it besides integrating the state with the rest of the country in the best-possible way, it will usher in wide economic development. The same is the case when it comes to the penetration of railways and its current connectivity status, which is nothing but a facility for anchoring is way short of the actual needs. Unless a comprehensive intra-state railway connectivity is established, economic development will only hover within the mediocre figures. It is a better sign that constant perusals, as it is now seen in case of Hollongi Airport by the high-ranking authorities are being taken up, besides the Miao-Vijoynanar road and others. The ‘push’ of this kind is the key element in the realization of all projects, irrespective of their size and all administrative units as well the political will coming from the top to bottom at the grassroots level will play the determining roles. People’s frustration over endless delays of projects and schemes are very common nowadays which are nothing illegitimate and this needs an immediate reversal.

It’s high time the state accepts it as a principle that ‘delays’ from now onwards will not be tolerated. Let this be made a practice from the first day of the 2021-22 FY.
