Naharlagun, Apr 25: World Malaria Day was celebrated in the state headquarters at Directorate of Health Service office with renewed emphasis on malaria prevention.
The celebration began with message on World Malaria Day by Dr. K.T.Mulung, SPO who presented a PowerPoint on the prevention, control, and management of malaria cases.
DHS Dr. Riken Rina took the opportunity to stress the paramount importance of malaria prevention. He led a pledge on malaria awareness, bringing together all the officers and officials of the DHS in a unified commitment to combat the disease.
Marge Sora, MD, NHM, stressed the need to effectively transform all programs into successful district initiatives. He commended the State Malaria Control Division, led by Dr. K.T. Mulung and his team, for the successful grassroots-level program implementations. Their efforts contributed to Arunachal Pradesh's progression from category 3 to category 1 in malaria control, he said.
Adding a creative touch to the event, Dr. M. Lego, former DHS, introduced an engaging malaria slogan. While celebrating their achievements, he also sounded a note of caution, advising the program division against complacency. With an API (Annual Parasite Index) below 1 and a record of zero malaria-related deaths over the past seven years, he urged the team to sustain their vigilance and commitment.
Director Family Welfare, Dr Wangdi Lama was also present.
Concluding the event on a gracious note, Dr. P.J. Sarma extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all attendees, showing the spirit of unity and dedication seen during the World Malaria Day celebration.
