ITANAGAR, Mar 9: North East Human Right Organization (NEHRO) Arunachal Unit has submitted a representation to Deputy Commissioner Namsai to expedite the rehabilitation process for the flood victims of 2004 in Namsai.
In its representation, NEHRO claims that the devastating flood of 2004 has drastically changed and destroyed the topography of three villages Mabira, Morapat and Mazgaon under Chongkham circle , the then Lohit District now in Namsai leaving the area unfit for settlement and livelihood.
The organization further added, since then the villagers are temporarily settled in Tengapani forest area but for reasons best known to the state government they were shifted to Kahi –Nalah forest and are still living in that particular area without any privileges and means of livelihood.
Moreover, despite repeated pleas and proposals submitted to the authority for permanent settlement of the flood victims no positive result has materialised, stated General Secretary NEHRO(AP) Buteng Tayeng in its release.
