PASIGHAT, Jan 30:
Pasighat police with the initiative of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) arrested a drug peddler from Mirsam village Monday evening.
Informing about the arrest and recovery of brown sugar and marijuana from the accused, WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong said that the team had been following the man one Tobom Regon of Mirsam village from last one month before finally catching him red-handed.
Raising concern over selling of drugs in and around educational institutions, she further appealed the authorities concern to sensitize vicinity around schools and colleges as many students are falling prey of this menace.
A case in this regard has been registered against the youth vide Pasighat PS Case No. 15/18 U/S 20(A)/2(B) of NDPS Act.
Moreover, WASE has already submitted detailed report to SP and DC Pasighat including DIGP Central Range, Pasighat urging formulation of strategies and plans followed with concerted action to curb the menace. As per WASE sources, the supplies are coming in from Assam, especially Leku-Jelum areas and has asserted that need for the state police to take the help of its Assam counterpart to address the issue.
