Bomdila, Sep 23: The Bomdila Buddhist Society, in collaboration with the Mental Health and Wellness Cell, Government College Bomdila, organised a public talk for the student community on the theme “Taming the Monkey Mind: Buddhist Approach to Deal with Stress, Anxiety, Phone and Drug Addiction” at Government College Bomdila on Tuesday.
The session was delivered by Ven. Geshe Lhakdor, Honorary Professor, University of British Columbia, Canada, and Director, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamshala.
Addressing the students, Ven. Geshe Lhakdor spoke on various approaches to understanding and managing the mind, dealing with stress and anxiety, developing positive attitudes and healthy habits, and overcoming addictions, particularly those related to phones and drugs. He emphasised the importance of awareness, self-discipline and cultivating a balanced and positive mindset in dealing with challenges faced by young people.
The interactive session also included a question-and-answer segment, during which Ven. Geshe Lhakdor responded to queries raised by the students on mental well-being, addiction and other related issues.
Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng, Dr. Dilip Kumar, Superintendent of Police, West Kameng, D. W. Thongon, Director, DOAKA, Heads of Departments, monks, teachers, students and other dignitaries attended the programme.
