PASIGHAT, Dec 7:  The Women Against Social Evils (WASE) which has been working tooth and nail against eradication of drug and IMFL menace from the region has received an anonymous letter threatening the life of its President, Omen Ering and General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong for which an FIR was lodged against anonymous person/s.

While narrating about the letter, the duo said that, they received the letter on 27th September last following which WASE had met SP, Pasighat next day on 28th September and submitted a complaint letter. “Till today the anonymous letter sender(s) have not been caught and until such time we were also told not to make the letter public. But police has failed to make any headway on the complaint,” they added.

An anonymous letter addressed to Gagam Ering, C/o Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering was received on 27th September 2017 last warning Gagam Ering that, his wife (Omem Ering, President WASE including Gen. Secy. Joya Tasung Moyong) won’t survive till next Solung with overlapping blood signed of thump impression. 

When SP Pasighat and OC Pasighat PS were contacted over the matter recently, the then SP Pranav Tayal had told this reporter that, efforts are being made and suspects were also brought to PS and taken their handwriting samples. While OC Atan Taki said that, they haven’t received any written complaint from WASE following which a formal FIR complaint was lodged at the PS. The PS has forwarded the complaint to Judicial Magistrate for further enquiry citing it comes under 506 IPC which is a non cognizable offense. 

Meanwhile, despite the life threat, WASE has clarified that, they are undeterred and more focused on their commitment to work for betterment and upliftment of society. However, WASE has appealed all sections of the people to help them and the police in identifying the handwriting of the anonymous person/s.
