ITANAGAR, Jan 17:A group of villagers from Kimin on Wednesday discovered what is believed to be the wreckage of an American plane used in WWII 1944 on the basis of its engine model in the far-off hills near the Bogi Nodi bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Armed with no equipment whatsoever, a group of youths headed by Taba Nobin from Kimin took the 3-day tedious trek to arrive at the site with the help of local villagers.
Despite tough terrain, the team somehow managed to unearth few chunks of metal scraps from the site which appears to be the engine, radiator, etc. Lack of proper machineries and equipment restrained them to lug the heavy metals out of the wilderness.
Internet being the only source for verification, the team assume it to be American planes used in WWII 1944, over the Himalayan range of Arunachal Pradesh, popularly known as ‘hump’ among US airmen based on its location and engine model.
