Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ZIRO, Nov 28: ZPC Hage Kobin inuguarated the Pare-Ami market shed under the aegis of Lower Subansiri Vegetable Growers Co-Operative Society Ltd. (LSVGCS) at Ziro today.
Terming farmers as the backbone of rural society, he called for coordination between the agrarian group and the panchayat members.
"PRI members have been mandated to select beneficiaries for various agriculture and horticulture schemes by the government. Therefore care should be taken to include the entrepreneurs and progressive farmers to encourage them and boost production in the district," he said advising the vegetable growers to opt for organic farming.
ADC Nending Chatung assured to take up the rental issue and renovation of the market shed in the APMC quarterly meeting.
As informed by Kago Kampu, a progressive farmer and Secretary LSVGCS Ltd, the current rent of the shed is Rs.3500, which is too high for the farmers most of whom are women.
The ADC further assured to look into the shifting of meat and fish market to this newly inaugurated Pare-Ami market.
DRCS Gyati Kobin extended all possible assistance to the farmers in terms of loans and subsidies etc to the registered societies.
Experts from horticulture and agriculture department also shared their inputs.
Presently 463 farmers of 39 farming clubs are members of this cooperative society. This market will house only organic fruits and vegetable products of the district.
