Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ITANAGAR, Nov 28: All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) has sought termination of three women teachers of Girls Residential School, Tani Happa, New Sagalee for allegedly forcing at least 88 girls to undress as punishment on November 23 last.
‘This incident is condemnable and a serious offence committed by irresponsible teachers and punishable under Protection of Child from Sexual Offences Act,’ the Union said in a press statement.
Teachers and the school authority could have handled the matter in a matured way, it asserted adding that the incident was a fallout of an unidentified student scribbling some offensive words.
Raising concern over the absence of boundary wall and watchman in the school, the union also questioned the appointment of Headmaster in a Girls Residential School.
As per the norms In-Charge of such school should be senior female teachers whereas in this case along with the Headmaster there are three more male teachers serving in the school, the union claimed.
