AALO, Dec 14:  Thousands thronged the streets of Aalo today to take part in a peaceful rally cum awareness programme to raise social awareness against growing criminal activities and sexual assault on minor girls.

The rally was organized under the banner of Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, Aalo Unit in collaboration with Paktu Ao Youth Association (PAYWA) Memo Ao Youth Association (MAYA) and Students Union Movement of Arunachal Pradesh (SUMA). 

The organizers while expressing concern over rising crime graph urged the law enforcing agency to take strict action and timely filing of charge sheet against offenders and to expedite conviction for all crimes against minor girls.

They also called for vigil on trafficking of minors in sex racket and flesh trade carried out clandestinely in sector and private residential area including mushrooming drug problem across the township.

The protesters also demanded a Women Police Station/Women Cell including posting of more police officers at Aalo in view of the shortage of manpower in the Police Department.
