AALO, Feb 23: The series of democratic movements over the delayed highway works in West Siang district announced by few organizations recently has been temporarily suspended following the government’s decision to expedite the construction work.

The Memo Ao Youth Association and Pushi Bango Welfare Society backed by many other supporting organisations have temporarily suspended their stir thus enabling the district administration to liaise with the government and concessionaire basing on the decision taken by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India held on February 7 last to expedite construction of Potin-Pangin Trans Arunachal Highway.

AE Highways  Er. Gemar Padu, has given specific direction by the West Siang district administration to monitor and ensure mobilization of Tools & Plant by the concessionaire, supervise immediate repair of road from Aalo - Bam to make it traffic worthy and ensure new short cut road alignment at Darka to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

The road condition from Bam to Aalo is a pathetic condition and abandoned by commuters and light commercial vehicles that prefer to ply through narrow jungle road from Nyorak-Nikte road to avoid huge potholes and big cracks all along the Aalo-Bam road. The coming monsoon season is likely to add on to the woes of commuters. The alternate Nyorak-Nikte road too is likely to reel under mud and slush in the coming monsoon. Since communication holds key to development and act as the lifeline to the people, the road condition need immediate repairing works to facilitate movement of men and materials through the main road that connects of the district.
