ITANAGAR, Dec 14: In order to settle issues pertaining to land acquisition for establishment of cantonment area for Army under Papumpare district, Minister LM, UD and TP, Nabam Rebia held a meeting with top Army officials headed by Lieutenant General,  4th Corp Tezpur Amarjeet Singh Bedi, on Thursday at his residence and thoroughly discussed about land requirement, survey verification and land acquisition.

After an hour long discussion, Lieutenant General Bedi informed that they have already finalized a land located near Rakap village in Sangdupota Circle as most suitable place for the purpose, but needs  additional land approximately 700 acres for successful setting up of infrastructure.

Bedi disclosed that have already placed a proposal with the state government seeking additional land and sought Rebia’s intervention for early approval of land for establishment of ammunition depot at Gumto also.

Meanwhile Rebia pointed out that the land identified by them for the Army cantonment area would be the most suitable as the said land is well connected with good approach roads.

He assured that more land measuring 700 to 800 acres would also be made available to them for the said purpose and he will soon conduct a survey along with Army officials along with district administration on December 18 next to identify the most feasible land.

Over the issue for ammunition depot at Gumto,  Rebia said the matter was pending for quite some time and disclosed that he has already raised the matter with Union Minister of Defence, Nirmala Sitharaman during her visit to the state.

He informed that he has directed district administration to expedite the matter and immediately help the army official in clearing the land acquisition issues for the ammunition depot at Gumto.

Rebia assured that issues surrounding land acquisition will be resolved soon.

Secretary Land, SK Jain, Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Tai Kaye were also present during the meeting.
