ITANAGAR, Sep 10: The state government today threatened to file  defamation case against individuals or groups levelling fake corruption charges against Chief Minister Pema Khandu-led state government.
Addressing the media persons, Government Spokesperson Nyato Dukam on Saturday said that the entire allegations made by Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) and All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) against Chief Minister Pema Khandu are "false, purely politically motivated to defame the present state government."
Dukam said there is no substantial proof of the allegation of the misappropriation of government funds and disproportionate assets acquired by the CM. "Being CM doesn’t mean he or his family members cannot do business," said Dukam while shielding Khandu.
Clarifying that the government is ready for a probe he said "CBI is the subject of the central government and state government cannot recommend it, however, we welcome any inquiry by the CBI."
While responding on the allegation of duplicity of schemes, corruption under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana (SGRY), misuse of funds of local bodies during Panchayat Raj Election, misuse of Rs. 142 Crores under DDUGJY fund and misuse of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), Dukam termed such allegation as imaginary and an attempt to mislead the people.
Dukam said that at least  Rs. 571.28 Crore sanctioned for both 14 & 15th Finance Commission for Panchayti Raj  and   was later utilized in various activities with  prior approval in cabinet meetings. He said the total fund of Rs. 571.28 was utilized during the Covid pandemic years for kitchen garden seeds (3.50cr), mask & sanitizer (24cr), incentive (15.26cr), action plan schemes (305.775cr), early childhood care (15.00cr) and Jal Jeevan Mission (92.25cr).
“Likewise, wrong information is being spread in public domain that Rs. 142 Crores was received from the central government under DDUGJY for the state and only utilized in Tawang, Bomdila and Namsai. The work is to be implemented in the 17 districts of the state under the original and additional funds provided under DDUGJY," he said adding that  no fund was released yet against the projects.
While responding to the query on offering money to the members of Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC), Dukam said if they have any means to prove their claims they should produce it before leveling any allegation on the Chief Minister's Office.
