CHONGKHAM, July 20: Reacting to the 15-days ultimatum served by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) demanding action against EAC Diyun, DC Changlang and MLA Diyun Bordumsa, the Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students Union (APCSU) has urged the AAPSU for an amicable solution.
Speaking to media, Vice President (Admin) APCSU, Bipin Roshan Chakma claimed that 90 percent of Chakmas residing in Arunachal are citizens of India and there is nothing wrong with getting a Residential Proof Certificate(RPC). He also disclosed that more than 500 RPC has been issued, and most of the documents were being used by students to pursue higher education or central government jobs.
He also clarified that one Robin Chakma who was appointed as LDC  in the EAC office Diyun is purely on a private basis to assist the government staff.
“Time has come to end the long vexed issue of Chakma community, so we appeal to the newly elected AAPSU executives to put an end to the refugee issue through dialogue and round table discussion," added Robin Chakma.
He also claimed that there are more than 47,471 Chakmas in different districts of Arunachal Pradesh, and at least 4000 of them have voting rights. "We are confused. If we are refugees then why have we been given voting rights, if not then why all the facilities under refugee norms are not been provided till date," questioned Vice President-APCSU.
When asked about the statement of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on the deportation of Chakma-Hajong from the state , he categorically claimed that the statement was "merely political and not possible factually."
