ITANAGAR, May 7: Days after a central team on a monitoring tour of the MGNREGA works being executed in the state found that work on 7000 MGNREGA schemes in Arunachal Pradesh are incomplete since the scheme started in 2006, MoS Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju today also expressed displeasure over the slow progress of PMGSY, MGNREGA and other centrally sponsored schemes being sanctioned by the central government for development of Arunachal Pradesh.
‘It is very disheartening to see that many projects under PMGSY and other central schemes are being irrelevantly blocked for mere personal reasons. I have been informed that some officials demand percentage for contract works from contractors which is very disturbing and one of the reasons for delaying of projects,’ asserted Rijiju while cautioning that action will be taken against those who create hurdles in development projects.
‘For last 70 years Northeastern states had been neglected by the previous governments but now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has much vision for Arunachal and all other northeastern states, so we should cooperate him in his venture,’ Rijiju added while appealing all state Cabinet Ministers and MLAs to take responsible measures to resolve the issues and to complete all the projects in stipulated timeframe.
