ITANAGAR, Nov 30 The daughters of former legislator and chairman Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board, Ngurang Pinch has sought justice for their father claiming his death as pre-planned political murder and not a case of drowning.
On November 18 last, Pinch was found dead on the river bank at Ramghat, under Tarasso Circle when he was on a rafting expedition. Papumpare Police on November 25 handed over the case to Special Investigative Team (SIT) following pressure from the family for a free and fair probe.
Addressing a press conference here today at press club, Ngurang Meena the eldest daughter of late Pinch claimed that circumstances of the fateful day hint towards something fishy.
‘My mother received a phone call about the incident at 2pm on November 18 last but as per report my father was missing since the wee hours of the same day. Then why did no one from the 20-member team on the rafting expedition inform us at that very moment,’ Meena questioned.
She further slammed the statement made by the team members regarding the absence of mobile network as totally false. After the incident, we visited the same place and found the mobile signals good, she added.
‘We know some of the team members have good connection and political power but we will also fight till the end,’ she said.
Alleging foul play, Meena demanded proper investigation on the whole episode.
‘As per witnesses, an argument had taken place between late Pinch and one Ngurang Abraham at the expedition site. But interestingly nobody from the team knows how things took a turn for the worse,’ the daughter alleged.
Reposing faith on the SIT constituted by the Home Department, the aggrieved family however said they will seek a CBI probe if all else fails.
When asked about the post mortem report, Meena disclosed that small quantity of water was found in the body but the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
‘We also urge the colleagues of my father Former Minister Atum Welly and Tatar Kipa who were present during the expedition to come forward and disclose the whole episode,’ she beseeched.
Younger daughter Reena also appealed witnesses to come forward in helping her father get justice.
‘We are not blaming anyone but request all the witnesses to disclose the whole incident of that fateful night so that justice would be given to the departed soul,’ she said.
The family will hold a candle light vigil on December 7 next at Itanagar from IG Park to Gompa.
Further, President Dopum Welfare Society, Yarum Tari also sought free and fair investigation in the case.
