PASIGHAT, Sep 3:  In a memorandum to Governor PB Acharya on Friday, the Pasighat Municipal Council led by Chief Councilor, Kaling Doruk and Talut Mize, Jt. Secretary State Level Committee Brand Ambassador (Nav Ratnas) SBM urged Raj Bhawan’s help and support in getting funds for sanitation activities under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and release of remaining funds for electric cremation ground.

While citing population growth of the town at exponential rate from various districts and villages within the state and as well as from other parts of the country as a big challenge to provide basic civic services, PMC Chief Kaling Doruk said that,  there are many cleanliness activities that requires to be taken up by PMC.

“The ULB is yet to levy civic charges from the citizen and hence we are fully dependent on the grant and aid from the state and central government. We are very much in shortages of sanitary vehicles and manpower,” added Doruk.

Doruk also appealed for early sanctioning and release of remaining funds for electric cremation ground at 21 Mile where 65 acres of land is ready to be developed as a graveyard-cum-crematoria. Out of total Rs. 4.21 Cr original estimate only Rs. 50 Lakhs has been sanctioned for initial survey and soil testing which stands utilized.

While in a separate meeting with UD & TPT Minister, Nabam Rebia on the same day, Doruk appealed for early sanctioning of Special Purpose Vehicle for Smart City Pasighat. Doruk also apprised and appealed the minister to select Pasighat as one of the cities under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
