Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
NAHARLAGUN, Nov 28: The national institute of agricultural extension management (MANAGE) Government of India, Hyderabad and state Department of Agriculture is organizing a consultative meeting and study visit for revitalizing agriculture extension in Arunachal Pradesh from Tuesday. The meeting was attended by district and state level officers of agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, fisheries, textile & handicrafts(sericulture) departments.
In a power point presentation on status & strategy for revitalizing agriculture extension service, Advisor Agriculture Department, AK Purkayastha explained the present status of extension services and suggested for creation of optimum infrastructure for a vibrant extension service delivery system through institutional strengthening.
He informed through the presentation that in order to ensure doubling of farmers’ income by 2023 as envisioned by the Prime Minister of India, the state government has already initiated number of farmer- centric programmes like organic mission, honey bee mission, CM’ s agri-mechanization programme etc.
Agriculture Secretary YW Ringu in her introductory address stated that the state government has accorded top priority to agriculture & allied sectors which are the primary occupation of the people. She emphasized the need for ensuring optimum utilization of the manpower support under ATMA programme and appealed to all stakeholders to bring convergence in their approach for farmer- centric programmes under state and central sector schemes so as to accomplish tangible results.
She also appealed for improving work culture, efficiency and accountability of the technical manpower with government policy support to transform the agrarian economy of Arunachal Pradesh into a vivacious one.
The officer from MANAGE shall visit state agriculture management & extension training institute (SAMETI) and ATMA, Pasighat during November 29-30 next to explore possibilities of upgradation of institutional infrastructure and organizational architecture.
Earlier, Director Agriculture, Anong Lego and Assistant Director, MANAGE, Dr. B Renuka Rani also addressed the gathering.
