ITANAGAR, Jul 30: The National People’s Party (NPP)- Arunachal unit today reiterated its commitment to uphold Arunachal’s interest and urged the BJP led state government to call an all-party meeting to resolve the long vexed boundary dispute issues with Assam. The statement comes close at the heels of the Assam-Mizoram boundary clash which turned violent leading to loss of lives.
Speaking to reporters at the Arunachal Press Club, newly appointed State NPP president cum MLA Roing, Mutchu Mithi said, ”NPP has regional aspirations with a national outlook. Regional peace and development shall remain the highest priority for NPP, the only national political party from the NE Region.”
Further, Mithi reiterated the party’s commitment to support the BJP led government in the state but cautioned to flag any issue that may be of larger interest to the state and its people. 
"Like human shield, our people are protecting our state at the international border, but we are failing to resolve our internal disputes," Mithi said while condemning the recent incident along the Assam-Mizoram boundary. He extended condolences on the killings of six Assam police personnel.  
While welcoming the statement from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh CMs to resolve the boundary issue through out-of-court settlement, Convenor NPP(AP) Jarpum Gamlin urged the government to take into consideration the views of the affected people,  CBOs of the affected tribes and Students’ bodies on the boundary disputes at several places.  “There are at least 17 districts of Assam that shares boundary with us,” said Gamlin adding that, we should tread carefully while entering into an out-of-court settlement. 
"Situations like Assam - Nagaland in 80s and the current Assam - Mizoram clash shouldn’t  happen in future and for that state government should take proper measures in solving the boundary issue peacefully," he said adding the NPP will not compromise with the interest of Arunachal Pradesh. 
 Meanwhile,  General Secretary NPP(AP) Pakgna Bage, Vice President(NPP) – Thangwang Wangham also pressed for an all-party meeting and urged the youths, public to join the NPP.
