ITANAGAR, Jan 12: Movement for Unified Multifaceted Knowledge Interaction Network (MUMKIN) has sought intervention of the Chief Secretary in its campaign for ‘one person one profession’ to eradicate the practice of government employees engaged in contract works in the name of their spouse and kith and kin.
Addressing media persons at Press Club, Chairman of Mumkin, Tadar Niglar claimed that there are some Engineers in working departments who are currently doing contract works worth crores under firms registered in the name of their spouse or kith and kin.
‘Such practice by government employees is against the prescribed service rule,’ he asserted.
He further opined that ‘such practice not only encourages corruption but also deprives the unemployed youths as well as genuine contractors.
‘And so with a motive to eradicate such practice, MUMKIN has launched an initiative—Livelihood for All, with the theme one person one profession,’ he said.
In its memorandum submitted to the Chief Secretary, MUMKIN has demanded immediate suspension of the contract agreements with such firms, halt of all kinds of government payment and cancellation of contractor registration license.
