ITANAGAR, Mar 8: Governor PB Acharya met the members of various communities from different parts of the country working in the State at Naharlagun on March 7. Accompanied by the State’s First Lady, Kavita Acharya andSecretary to Governor, Dr. Joram Beda, the Governor interacted with people of all walks of life, who were from Sikh, Jain, Marwari, Bengali, Malayali and other communities. Most of them were government officials, businessmen, women activists, educationists and social workers.

The Governor exhorted them to be partners in the developmental process of the State. He advised them to have unity of vision and assist each other at all fronts and at the same time help the deprived and disadvantaged members of society, especially the local communities.

Urging them to learn the indigenous language of the tribal people and make an effort to reach out to the people in the remote parts, he said ‘such goodwill gesture will create strong bond between you and the indigenous communities, which will in turn help you in your profession.’ 

Reminding them of ‘Citizen Social Responsibility’ and that ‘achievers must be givers’, the Governor urged the members of various communities to have tie ups with local government schools, hospitals and orphanages.

‘One should adopt any such institution as a community. Sponsor students, particularly girl child from poor families for their studies and a make positive change while strengthening Prime Minister’s goal of 'Shastra Bharat Samarth Bharat', the Governor emphasised.

The Governor called upon each person to create awareness about Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and sponsor opening of bank accounts for at least five persons in any one of the above.  

The senior representatives of communities expressed their gratitude to the Governor and the First Lady for reaching to them, which they said is the first time that such reassuring gesture came from the Raj Bhavan.

Further, they assured to sponsor five girl children in providing education and financial help others in opening bank accounts.
