TEZU, Feb 12: A coordination meeting was conveyed here today to combat opium cultivation in Lohit district by DC Karma Leki. The meeting was attended by SP Lohit Isaac Pertin, Nodal Officer Narcotics Cell Oli Koyu, representatives of Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmis (CALSOM), All Mishmi Women Welfare Society (AMWWS), All Mishmi Students Union (AMSU), Senior BJP Leader Sotai Kri and administrative officers.

It was concurred in the meeting that illegal opium cultivation was a menace to society and must be discouraged at any cost. Representatives of CALSOM, AMWWS and AMSU strongly supported the initiatives taken by district administration and said offenders must be booked under NDPS Act.

The DC said that due to opium usage the  future generation was getting destroyed. He said full cooperation will be provided by the district administration for logistics support.  He informed that executive orders were regularly issued. Any deliberate transgression of the order will be severely dealt with, he said.
