ITANAGAR, May 26: Taking strong exception to the reports that essential commodities are being sold at exorbitant prices during the ongoing ICR lockdown, Member Secretary, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC), Itanagar Dolang Akom has warned the shopkeepers and traders not to indulge in such activities failing which they may have to lose their trading licenses.
Speaking to the media, Dolang stated that movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities is exempted during the containment period and the administration has also issued an order exempting such vehicles from 5 am to 12 noon. “So, there shouldn’t be any price rise in the market. There are Helpline Nos. and we urge the consumers to take cash memos of their purchased commodities if anything is sold beyond the actual price and immediately inform the Sector Magistrate or the respective corporator or even the APMC members,” Dolang said.
To check such malpractices, the administration has assigned the Sector Magistrates and sought help from the concerned corporators of the IMC, he said. Main markets are closed, but designated shops for e-commerce and those in various sectors are still running with proper SOPs, he informed, cautioning that if they are found involved in selling commodities at a high price, their licenses might be cancelled.
