ITANAGAR, Nov 30: Responding to the demands made by the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) today, eight legislators (including Ministers and Parliamentary Secretary) of the community came out in the government’s defence and briefed on the status of several projects.

Addressing the  media at Civil Secretariat, Minister for Urban Development & Housing, Nabam Rebia informed that the state government  has already released  fund under SIDF  for  Nyishi Heritage village   and  bridge over  Kumey river to connect Tali,  Rs 10.00 crore has been sanctioned for  the said road (bridge point to Tali). 

Further, clarifying on the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi, Rebia informed that on the active persuasion of the state government, Union Civil Aviation Ministry is sending a team of AAI officers. ‘Their visit is scheduled from November 30-December 5 next and during their visit, they will be carrying out detailed study on all airfields including the proposed Greenfield Airport at Hollongi,’ he said.

 On Trans Arunachal Highway, the Minister said  the entire stretch of road i.e. 149.400 KM road which comes under Nyishi belt have been transferred to the MoRTH for construction of 2 lane highway on 24th November 2017.

‘The delay in execution of the work was due to the problems arising out of the land compensation issue which is now resolved. Since the matter is now resolved, work shall commence immediately,’ added Rebia.

While responding on the Sainik School issue, he opined that Defence Minister has approved  three schools one each  for East, West and Central Arunachal, moreover for the capital region one  cantonment is in the pipeline  and I have already  identified 500 acres of land, he asserted.

When asked about the resentment of NES on derogatory word used by the Chief Minister in the state Assembly, Rebia said ‘the word is not directed to anyone specific.’

Speaking on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary for UD & IPR, Mama Natung also appealed the people to have faith on the Pema Khandu led government which is working hard for the development of the state with accountability and transparency.
