GUWAHATI, Mar 24: The regional committee for Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border in regards to the Biswanath-Pakke Kessang came to a conclusion to recommend its final decision into the matter to the respective state government following a meeting held at Assam administrative staff college at Khanapara near here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Assam regional committee Pijush Hazarika and the Arunachal Pradesh regional committee Chairman Mama Natung.
During the meeting, both committees finalized the border issues based on Namsai Declaration. The committee also decided that it is the final meeting on the settlement of border issues between the states.
Earlier, in the meeting, the regional committee of Assam through a presentation of the proposed boundary for the Biswanath-Pakke Kessang part of the Assam-Arunachal Border which was prepared after a joint visit by officials and members of the committee from both sides.
The committee also agreed that the area within the mandate of the Namsai declaration, which is Baliso, Passo, Dikalmukh, and Dipik of Arunachal Pradesh, is settled and agreed upon by both regional committees.
However, the Pakke Kessang Regional Committee of the state apprised the members regarding the re-alignment of the border areas in the Seijosa, including inhabited areas of Pakke Tiger Reserve Forest Guest House, Seijosa ILP check gate, Monai Village, and Namorah village.
In response, the regional committee of Assam suggested that the boundary realignment of the Seijosa to the Namorah area is beyond the mandate of the Namsai declaration and therefore beyond the purview of the regional committee discussion.
The regional committee of Assam also has declined the suggestion of the state regional committee to consider the mutually agreed boundary at Dikalmukh areas instead of the present boundary stating that the area is uninhabited and is an existing animal corridor.
Among others, the officials from Assam, DC Sonitpur Debakr Mishra, Director Land Records Shantanu Gotmare, DFO Arun Vighnesh and Arunachal Pradesh representative Pakke Kessang legislator Biyuram Wahge, DC Tayek Pado, DFO VK Jawal, Dissing Paso CO Bomgam Padu and others were present in the meeting.
