TEZU, Feb 18: In a most barbaric and shameful act, a minor girl about 5 years was allegedly raped and murdered brutally at Namgo village under Wakro circle of Lohit District.

The victim,a student of Gyan Sarovar Academy, Medo was recently promoted to Upper Kindergarten.

She was missing since February 12 and today her lifeless body was found near the tea garden few kilometres from Namgo village, informed a Police officer.

The girl had gone missing from the compound of her home, following which Arun Kri, the father lodged a missing report at the police outpost.

The missing report was widely shared in various social networking sites to trace her out.

After intensive search, relatives today traced the body and found the child bereft of any clothing lying in a pool of blood indicating rape and murder.

After receiving information,  Officer In-charge, Wakro, Thomas Pertin accompanied by IRBN personnel launched massive search to work out the blind case and successfully nabbed two accused Sanjay Sobar (30) and Jagdish Lohar (26) both from Assam within 22 hours from Namgo village after registration of the case.  Both have admitted to the crime, disclosed sources.

This incident is a grim reminder of a similar case, when a 13-year-old girl was found brutally raped and murdered in Chongkham circle of Namsai district on December 23 last. The body of the victim, a Class 8 student of a missionary school in the district, was found lying in a ditch next to a field.

Meanwhile, condemning it a dastardly and most inhumane act, Sibali Yun, GS All Mishmi Women Welfare Society (AMWWS) urged the police to initiate exemplary punishment against the culprits.

Condemning the incident in its strongest term, General Secretary, North East Human Rights Organization, Arunachal Unit, Buteng Tayeng has asked to award exemplary punishment against the culprits involved in the incident.
