ITANAGAR, Sep 2: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) who undertook an intensive two-day tour of Vijoynagar, the easternmost and one of the remotest administrative circles of the State in Changlang district, mingled freely with the local people and gathered ground level inputs about the developmental needs of the area.
Vijoynagar
On the first day of the sojourn on August 30, Governor accompanied by First Lady Neelam Misra went around the Vijoynagar area followed by a visit to Danodi Basti village in the outskirts on the next day to have a first-hand knowledge about the day-to-day challenges of the residents. While interacting with Siyecha Yobin and his wife Achibo, he came to know how the cost of basic commodities keep escalating, besides getting familiar with the healthcare needs of the local community. Governor assured them about the renewed efforts undertaken by State government for expediting the construction of Miao-Vijoynagar road, adding that he will personally monitor the construction activity and avail expertise from Border Road Organization and other technical institutions to weed out hindrances. After witnessing a display of hemp weaving by Achibo Yobin and her 80 years old mother-in-law, both the Governor and First Lady called for preserving the age-old practice of Yobin community for their socio-financial empowerment, particularly the womenfolk.
While visiting one of the Girls’ residential school which has 32 inmates and discovering that there are only two functional toilets, Governor directed the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang R.K. Sharma to have two extra toilets constructed at the earliest. Also, after finding non-existence of  internal tracks/roads in the area between villages, he directed the DC to use local manpower on daily wage basis to get the tracks remade. Getting the complaint from students who are 713 in number regarding non-availability of teachers, Governor also directed the Education Department to explore the possibilities of engaging local teachers on ad hoc basis. People of Vijoynagar expressed gratitude to the couple for their visit, the first of its kind when a Governor has stayed with them.

Miao-Vijoynagar Road
With the aim of ascertaining the immediate reasons for inordinate delays in construction of Miao-Vijoynagar Road, Governor made an aerial survey on his way back from Vijoynagar on August 31, accompanied by officials from District Administration, Rural Works Department, Environment and Forests. He advised them to start working on the abutment and central pier, so that the bridge frame which is already under construction at Kolkata can be launched without delay. After consultation with the Superintendent Engineer RWD, Tirap, Longding & Changlang, Tannu Tamin, he fixed mid-November 2019 as the launch date for the bridge. Underscoring the importance of Miao-Vijoynagar Road, Governor exhorted all stakeholders to involve themselves in expediting its construction and also reiterated the need for overall development of Vijoynagar from the national security angle. He added that construction of this road is also needed for protection of preyed wildlife and flora & fauna in the famed Namdapha National Park, as due to non-existence of road, forest department personnel cannot exercise a suitable vigil.
Public Interactions
With the last day of the tour reserved exclusively for interactions with common people, Governor visited Miao, Jairampur, Nampang and Pangsau Pass and spoke to the people and Goan Burahs.
While calling upon the people of Changlang district to ensure protection of wildlife, he also appealed them to participate in the development process of the State. He distributed ‘Team Arunachal’ lapel pins to the Goan Burahs during public meetings as tokens of motivation and pride for their State. Later on the day, accompanied by Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte and local MLA Laisam Simai, Governor visited Pangsau Pass when he was briefed by the people’s representatives regarding the potential for tourism and border trade. The need for an early opening of the Land Custom Office was conveyed to the Governor and a 9-point memorandum was also submitted to him by the people of Nampong.
Governor suggested the concerned officials to visit and study the infrastructure set-up, organisation and functioning of the Border Trade Point at Moreh in Manipur and take necessary inputs for shaping the Border Trade Point at Pangsau Pass. PRO Raj Bhavan
