ITANAGAR, Dec 7: The Armed Forces Flag Day was observed in Raj Bhavan, Itanagar along with rest of the country on Thursday. Leading from the front, Governor BD Mishra and the First Lady of the State Neelam Misra donated towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.

Exhorting the officers and staff of the Raj Bhavan to generously contribute towards the Fund, the Governor said that since the year 1949, 7th December is being observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country in honour of the martyrs and the men in uniform who have valiantly fought for the defence of the Nation.

The Governor, who himself is a war veteran paid tribute to the brave and gallant heroes from the Armed forces, who have laid down their lives in the service of the country during various wars and military operations. He reminded the people that Flag Day provides us an opportunity to discharge our obligation of looking after the disabled comrades-in-arms, Vir Naris and dependents of those who have sacrificed their lives for the country.

‘Let us remember and acknowledge the valiant sacrifices and dedicated services rendered by the personnel of Army, Navy and Air Force,’ he urged.

The Armed Forces Flag Day Team of Raj Bhavan, Itanagar collected contributions from Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal and many others on the Day.

The money has since been credited to the Armed Forces Fund.
