ITANAGAR, Feb 15: Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have greeted the people of the state on the festive occasions of Oriah of the Wancho community and Lossar, the New Year of the Buddhist community particularly of the Monpas.

In his message the Governor said that Oriah festival is observed to invoke the blessing of Almighty Rangwa for good harvest and prosperity and he is positive that all will be blessed accordingly.

Greeting the Wancho community, Khandu emphasized on wholehearted participation of all irrespective of religious affiliations in the indigenous festivals like Oriah that symbolizes the distinct cultural identity of the community.

Extending Lossar greetings, the Governor said that the commencement of a New Year brings in new hopes and expectations. It also gives us a chance to renew our pledge for all good turns to one and all. He expressed hope that this Lossar will usher-in peace and prosperity, in plenty, for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a message this evening, Khandu said, “While celebrating Lossar and welcoming the new year let us strengthen our bond of brotherhood amongst all communities and faiths and take our State to newer heights.”

“Let us promise to work together for prosperity of every individual, community and region of our state. Let this New Year be another beginning of a new chapter in the history of Arunachal Pradesh,” he added.
