ITANAGAR, Nov 18:In a tragic incident, former MLA from 14th Doimukh Constituency  and incumbent Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board, Ngurang Pinch was found dead on the river bank of Ramghat, under Tarasso Circle  today.

Pinch, was on a rafting expedition along with seven other colleagues on Friday and stayed on the river bank near the confluence of Popum- Poma rivers some 30Km away from the state capital. However, he was found missing early in the morning and on search his body was found floating at Hatimatha in between Basar Nallo and Rana Ghat on Assam side,informed, Superintendent of Police, Papumpare, Tumme Amo.

A team of police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. The body was brought to the Primary Health Center, Balijan for Postmortem. However, information received late evening stated that the body has been brought to the RK Mission Hospital in the state capital and Postmortem will be conducted on Sunday.

Son of late Ngurang Tasing, from Kakoi village under Kimin circle of Papumpare district, Pinch is survived by his two wives, three sons and six daughters. 

Pinch was elected to the fourth Legislative Assembly in the year 2004 from 14th Doimukh Assembly Constituency and served as Member of Rules Committee and Departmentally Related Standing Committee on PWD, PR, etc. and also as Chairman, Advisory Council for Sports & Youth Affairs.

The state’s who’s who, colleagues have expressed shock and condoled the tragic demise of Pinch.

Governor BD Mishra in his condolence message, termed late Pinch as an eminent social activist, who rendered his valuable service to the people of the State in various capacities during his long distinguished political career.

Conveying his heartfelt condolence, the Governor offered prayers to the Almighty God to give the bereaved family strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and eternal peace to the departed soul.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a condolence letter to Ngurang Yagiam, wife of Late Ngurang Pinch, wrote “ In his demise, I have lost an elder brother and a guide who was always around to support, advice and show me the way ahead despite hard times. Though elder to me in age, Late Pinch, with his most amiable nature always made me feel as a dear friend.

I write to share my extreme grief and the pain of losing one of the prominent personalities of the State. Late Ngurang Pinch was a bright politician, a sincere social worker and a perfect gentleman. As Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board, he was highly dedicated towards the development of the people of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein expressing deep shock and sorrow said that he worked in close coordination with Pinch as a team in connection with the betterment of Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board. He said that Pinch was an upright person who was always working for the upliftment of farming community of the State. In him, we have lost a good human being and a dedicated social worker, Mein added.

APCC president Takam Sanjoy and former CM Nabam Tuki, in their condolence messages, termed him as a dedicated Congress soldier, who fought from the front on various state issues including socio-economic development, particularly of his constituency. He was a very vocal leader and has been reiterating demand to make Rajgarh Ali stretching 576-km as permanent boundary to end the decades-old interstate Assam-Arunachal boundary dispute.
